HEALTH AND WELLNESS

Health and wellness are multifaceted concepts encompassing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It’s not just about being free from illness; it’s about thriving in all aspects of life. Here are some key components:

Physical Health: This includes aspects like regular exercise, proper nutrition, sufficient sleep, and avoiding harmful substances like tobacco and excessive alcohol.

Mental Health: Mental well-being involves managing stress effectively, cultivating resilience, seeking help when needed, and maintaining a positive outlook on life.

Emotional Health: This involves being aware of and expressing emotions in a healthy way, developing strong interpersonal relationships, and finding ways to cope with life’s challenges.

NUTRITION

Nutrition facts are essential for making informed decisions about what we eat and drink. Here’s a breakdown of typical nutrition facts found on food labels:

Serving Size: This tells you the recommended serving size for the food or beverage, typically listed in common measurements like cups or pieces.

Calories: The amount of energy provided by one serving of the food or beverage. It’s important to consider serving size when interpreting calorie content.

Macronutrients:

    • Fat: Total fat content is listed, along with breakdowns into saturated and trans fats. Unsaturated fats, like those found in nuts and avocados, are generally healthier options.
    • Carbohydrates: Total carbohydrates include dietary fiber and sugars. Fiber is important for digestion and can help regulate blood sugar levels, while added sugars should be limited.
    • Protein: The amount of protein in one serving is listed. Protein is essential for building and repairing tissues in the body.

MINDSET

Your mental health controls our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, act and  it influences how process stress. You may not realize how your mental health impacts how you relate to others, and make choices. Key aspects of mental health:

  • Emotional Health: This journey starts by understanding and managing our emotions in a healthy way. This starts by being aware of our feelings, expressing them appropriately and effectively, and processing stress, sadness, anger, or anxiety effectively.
  • Psychological Resilience: Being able to bounce back from setbacks, challenges, or adversity is essential to our mental health. Have you ever felt like you were on a revolving  Building resilience involves developing coping skills, seeking support when needed, and maintaining a positive outlook on life.
  • Healthy Relationships: Making positive and social connections with supportive relationships with family, friends, and your community are vital for mental growth. Having people we can trust and confide in can provide comfort, validation, and a sense of purpose.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

Physical health is the overall condition of the body and its ability to perform daily activities effectively without getting tired. Your body is your temple, and sometimes that means you have to determine the difference from your needs vs wants. Creating health routines, intentional habits, are the essentials to creating consistency in your health journey. I challenge you to take ten minutes today to get up and get out, that may look like a walk around the block, a trip to the gym, or potting a new plant. Take it a step at a time, breath, and give yourself grace while making your body feel great. Tips on resisting fatigue:

  • Exercise: Regular physical activity is crucial for maintaining good physical health. It strengthens muscles, improves cardiovascular health, helps control weight, and boosts mood and mental well-being. Try taking on a combination of exercises like walking, running, or strength training exercises (like weightlifting or bodyweight exercises) the benefits are endless.
  • You are what you eat: Getting in whole foods  ones rich in micros and macros, fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. Give your body what it needs and what it wants in moderation. Provide your body with essential nutrients and watch the change of your energy, growth, and overall function. Stopping the compulsive consumption of processed foods, sugary snacks, and high-fat meals is hard but important for maintaining health.
  • Reset and Reset: Sleep is my top priority and essential for physical and mental health to build your overall well-being. The average amount of sleep is 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night to allow the body to rest, repair tissues, store memories, and regulate hormones. Poor sleep can lead to a variety of health issues, including fatigue, weakened immune function, and increased risk of chronic diseases

CURRENT EVENTS

The earliest intentional community started over 1500 BCE (“before the common erra”) and today with technology and creativity we have many events that go on throughout the year virtually and in real life. My goal with this blog is to start a community and a space to not be afraid to embrace health. We all have different interests but when we can find common things to bring us together to be better it makes it even better.
